ARMY EMERGENCY RELIEF (AER)
AER is a private nonprofit organization incorporated in 1942 by the Secretary of War and the Army Chief of Staff. AER’s mission is to provide emergency financial assistance to Soldiers and their Families. The funds for AER are voluntary contributions from active and retired Soldiers and Army civilians, repayment of AER interest-free loans, investment income and unsolicited contributions. AER helps with emergency financial needs for food, rent, utilities, emergency transportation and vehicle repair, funeral expenses, medical/dental expenses, personal needs when pay is delayed or stolen, and give undergraduate-level education scholarships to children, spouses, and surviving spouses of Soldiers. Who can AER help? AER works hand in hand with Company Commanders and First Sergeants in the Command Referral Program, approving AER loans up to $1,000.
