CDC_StrykerGrafenwoehr children spend time with Stryker soldiers

The children of the Grafenwoehr Child Development Center received a special treat when troopers from 3rd Squadron of the 2d Stryker Cavalry Regiment took time out of their busy schedule to stop by and share with the kids what it is like to be a Soldier. Staff Sgt. Steven Cruz helps one of the younger children from the Child Development Center in Grafenwoehr discover what the inside of a Stryker is like.

 

Vilseck Elementary School teacher named teacher of the year Vilseck teacher

Gretchen Wall has been a teacher for Department of Defense Dependent Schools for 22 of her 26-year teaching career. The 2008-2009 school year was her first year teaching at Vilseck Elementary School in more than 20 years. The impact she has made on her students and parents since her return to VES led to her 2010 Bavaria District Teacher of the Year nomination. symbol more

Much like their Soldier counterparts in the dessert, spouses of the 172nd Infantry Brigade dodged bullets, marched with weapons and practiced their shots June 3 during brigade’s Spouses’ Shootout Challenge.

Charity Concert in Grafenwoehr by German Army Mountain Music Corps

Alphorn9 July -Charity Concert by German Army Mountain Music Corps from Garmisch
7:30 p.m. in downtown Grafenwoehr in
the park next to the Military Museum (inclement weather: Stadthalle).
Enjoy an evening with an entertaining mix
of military, classical, modern and Bavarian music.

Clarinets, trumpets, saxophones, flutes, and Bavarian Alphorns. Enjoy an evening of march music, classical music, pop and rock, and a special rendition of traditional Bavarian music with the German Army Mountain Music Corps.

Entrance to this charity concert is free; donations are welcome to support the Grafenwoehr kindergartens.

U.S. Army Garrison Grafenwoehr celebrated Earth Day on April 22 with an event outside the Post Exchange. The festivities promoted the idea of individual responsibility through various activities such as an electricity and nature quiz and a recyclables sorting game to create community awareness of the impact on the local environment.

The squeals and shrieks of teenage girls could be heard throughout the Patrick Henry Village Pavilion Ballroom in Heidelberg April 18 as ‘the kids’ from the Grafenwoehr Performing Arts Center’s “Miss Nelson is Missing!” were announced best ensemble in a comedy at the Installation Management Command- Europe Tournament of Plays award ceremony.
