Army Continuing Education System (ACES)

The Army Continuing Education System (ACES) is dedicated to improving the combat readiness of the Army by planning, resourcing, and implementing educational programs and services to support the professional and personal development of quality service members, adult family members and Department of Defense civilians.

Programs and Services:

Our services include the following:

  • Individual counseling services:

Education counselors can assist you with everything from setting your education goals to creating your GoArmyEd account if you plan to use tuition assistance. Counselors can provide helpful information on school accreditation, financial aid, GI Bill programs, examinations, available college programs and much more. Speaking with a counselor is a great first step in pursuing your education goals.

  • Group counseling:

Group counseling is designed to give our customers a broad overview of our services to help Soldiers and other community members take full advantage of their education benefits. We can tailor the briefing to meet your group’s needs. Contact a counselor to set up a briefing for your group.

  • College programs:

Several on-site colleges offer courses leading to the award of credentials to include Associates, Bachelors, and Masters degrees. Both traditional classroom and distance education course are available. Soldiers who wish to receive Army tuition assistance (TA) must enroll in classes through the GoArmyEd portal. Tuition assistance may also be used at accredited colleges offering online courses.

  • Functional Academic Skills Training (FAST):

 FAST is an on-duty program for Soldiers covering topics that will help Soldiers improve their General Technical (GT) score in the Armed Forces Classification Test (AFCT).

  • Testing Services:

Testing services are available for a wide range of academic examinations such as the College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Excelsior, GED, etc.  Proctoring services for online college tests are also available. Available Army Personnel Testing (APT) includes Language Aptitude and Proficiency tests, the alternate Flight Aptitude Skills Test, AFCT, and others. Testing is conducted by appointment only. Contact the testing office of your local education center for more information. All Army personnel tests require an approved DA Form 4187.

National Test Center (NTC):

The Rose Barracks Education Center has a National Test Center operated by the University of Maryland University College-Europe (UMUC-E).The NTC offers on-site computer testing services to include College Level Examination Program (CLEP), DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST), and Pearson VUE online examinations and certifications.   • Multi-use Learning Facility (MLF):

The MLF includes a computer lab and a wide range of military publications and civilian reference materials. All computers have CAC card readers.
