awareness training, respond to all incidents of sexual assault
around the clock in a prompt and immediate manner, coordinate
all necessary supporting services to assist victims of sexual
assault, in support of the Soldiers, civilians, and family members

Risk Factors - In Garrison Environment
- Alcohol is a significant risk factor as
the majority of sexual assault cases involve alcohol
- The largest percentage of cases occurred
in barracks, housing units, and temporary training barracks
- Most rape victims knew the alleged perpetrator
- Most barracks rooms were unsecured
Risk Factors - In Deployed Environment
- Facilities are dispersed throughout forward
operating bases
Dark streets or walkways (shower points)
Vulnerable time of usage (Phone centers)
- Living conditions are sometimes co-ed
- Alcohol and drugs may be available
- Collateral misconduct may be a factor

individuals and receive medical treatment and counseling without
